On a beautiful Monday afternoon, UB students and faculty converged on the soccer field…

…to celebrate UBs upcoming centennial…

…by using their bodies to form a giant “100”…

…and then getting photographed from the air by drones.

This is what it looked like to be there. This is outside of the middle zero.

I joined and became a part of the middle zero. This is me looking across to the other side of the zero.

This is Professor Lehman herding everyone into the right shape.

This is more of the inside of the zero. Everyone was supposed to wear purple, but not everyone was. I was wearing black.

Ready for the longshot!

I think this was the bottom of the “one”...

And this is the whole “one,” with Professor Lehman working to straighten it out.

Then, it was over.

People took off their purple sweatshirts, and the 100 dissolved.

We left the soccer field…

…and went back to class.
During this event I had the opportunity to talk with a UB student, Anjana Paudel, who is working on her master's in Criminal Justice and Human Security.
When I asked her, “Why did you think it was important to come to this event?”
She replied, “I think it’s fun coming in together wearing purple and white and I got to meet you. Like, you’re new (to me) and I’m able to talk with you. It’s a form of gathering and coming together and representing something and enjoying it.”
Coming into this event, I was able to see the unity that Anjana talked to me about. Everyone was coming together to celebrate the coming centennial of the University of Bridgeport, an event that only happens once in a lifetime.
